Sunday morning coffee comedy catch-up today was an episode of Simpson and Galton's excellently-written and superbly played comedy, Hancock's Half Hour. Tony Hancock, Sid James, Hattie Jacques, Kenneth Williams and Bill Kerr provide the voices of major, as well as some minor, players, as Tony and his friends branch out into the coffee-inspired world of East Cheam's first barista in 1956. Take a listen, see what you think...
Making no money in showbusiness, the lad sees his future in selling coffee.

I could never get into Hancock. I also didn't like the Goon Show, but I loved reading the scripts. Somewhere I still have the script book, that came out in the late 70s

I have the complete radio scripts for HHGTTG from '85 or thereabouts, another great show.

HHGTTG - original radio scripts
@Ronrybs I had them all on cassette tapes years ago - not sure what happened to them. Fits the first through twelfth, with footnotes and asides - including some bits actually cut from the final radio shows.

Simpson and Galton were great Script Writers. I liked Hancock and The Goons in part as well. Did not get to see much of them though as I worked quite long hours then.

@lovinangelsinstead21 Yes, much like Richard Beckinsale from Porridge, the younger actor passed away first.

They scripted another classic, Steptoe and Son - some superb comedy lines and timing in that show.

A comedic genius, stolen from us so early... And one of the writing duo responsible for his shows passed away this week.

He certainly had a hangdog expression that added to the comedic effect. I am pretty sure this episode was available on the goggle-box too... Does this episode remind you of anything...? "It is ah raining not here also."

Glad it's available to you over in the US - many times, the BBC puts geography-specific locks on some of the material it puts up on their website(s).
