My plan to start a media company.

I've had it on my mind to start a media company for a long time, and recently it seems I've been pulling some threads together that could weave into something quite wonderful. I've been artistically inclined ever since I was a child, but never quite able to find a role in the workplace that was a good creative outlet. So I figure one solution to that problem is to be a self-employed entrepreneur and essentially write my own job description exactly as I would like it, instead of trying to slot myself into someone else's pre-existing operation. I'm meeting a lot of people who share a common vision, which is a really exciting breakthrough. I struck up a conversation with someone in the library one day because I noticed that he was reading a book about filmmaking, and that led to a very fruitful discussion about what sorts of films we'd like to make and about running a business, and it turns out he's done a lot of ground work himself already and is very knowledgable about business processes (and is in need of an illustrator to help flesh out the visual design of his screenplays, a perfect task for my skill set). My friend Nathan has done publishing and is currently reviving his business. We are both preparing to attend the local college and are planning to take classes relevant to our ambition to do creative work. I've been in discussion with an online friend who lives in Canada about doing a film review podcast as an initial platform for launching a broader media campaign, and hopefully learning quite a bit about film and storytelling in the process. As a subset of the media production we want to do, I'm very interested in starting a special effects house largely inspired by the films of the 70s, 80s and 90s, before computer animation became industry standard. I love the ingenuity of the effects from that era and want to play around with some of those old techniques (stop motion / scale model animation, matte paintings, forced perspective, double exposures, simple camera tricks, etc). So that's a big dream of mine, hopefully I'll be able to make it a reality in the next few years.

I've made a film out of my sims 2 games which lasted six months. I was able to complete it though but it didn't give much of an impact in the long run.

Very neat to read about what you hope to do in the future. Maybe we will see your name as famous as Mark Zuckerberg some day :-)
