I say NOT ME!! If they want to stay there, fine, let them stay in NYC or let them move to Moscow, I really don't care, but I don't think WE the TAXPAYERS, of which Donald and Melania are NOT, should have to foot the bill for the millions in extra security.
It costs more for them to stay in Trump Tower than it does to fund Planned Parenthood (which is far more popular with the American people than the Trumps) or the National Endowment For the Arts among other programs Trumpsters and others on the right want to defund.
I say DEFUND MELANIA AND BARRON!!

To make matters worse, I suspect that Melania will never move full-time into the White House. Did you know that people cannot tour the White House, because she has not hired the staff to make those arrangements? I suspect that she will always be a part-time first lady, because she does not like Donald Trump any more than the rest of us do! She will show up and make some public appearances, or meet him at their winter home at Mar Lago. She will even show up for some state dinners and public appearances with the wives of foreign leaders. I don't think she is interested in doing much else.

@DeborahDianne So, Melania is not interested to live in the white house . . . Trump should take Marla to live with him in the white house.

@DeborahDiane I think you're right about her not moving into the White House. In the abstract, I can understand. She was not elected. But on the other hand, why should the taxpayers pay the additional money for her upkeep? Not like her husband can't afford it.

There is no logic in politics and of course we will pay them to live there just like the tax payer paid for his sons business meeting that costs nearly a 100,000. Sad how people gripe on the poor all day, but have no problem with this sleazy stuff. I also wonder when people will realize we are only as good as our leaders!

I can't believe there's a single person who still supports this horrible person and his sleazy family. I'm not somebody who ever criticizes the family of the President or any politician nor have I ever had a problem with our Presidents taking a vacation or doing something to relax like playing golf or with the First Ladies and "First Kids" taking an occasional trip. I realize they give up a lot and live very stressful lives. I've always felt this way regardless of the party of the President or whether I'd voted for him or not. These sleazeballs are pushing it much too far and I'm beyond angry. Seriously, the schools the Clinton and Obama girls attended aren't good enough for a Trump boy and the White House isn't good enough for Melania and Barron? Talk about DEPLORABLES!!!

@crossbones27 - I agree that it is disappointing that we are spending this much money on a daily basis to protect the extended Trump family, yet the Republicans do not want to spend money to help poor people.

I heard Donald Trump and his son in law, Jared, are not going to receive salaries. I guess that would be enough to fund their stay in New York. Actually, they don need their stay to be funded . . they are wealthy . .

@DeborahDiane I think it's more or less automatic that we the taxpayers pay for the security of the First Family no matter what. Since this seems to be a permanent situation I say it's BS.

@DeborahDiane Did they ask for it or it is the government's decision to pay for their security? One million a day is too much! That is 365 million dollars a year! How come Graham and McCain are silent? This is crazy.

@antonbunot - I wish that was enough money to fund their stay in New York ... but it does not. Their salaries, combined, would be about $600,000 a year. ($400,000 for Trump; $200,000 for his son-in-law). The City of New York has reported they are spending $1 million a DAY our of their budget to provide extra police protection, in the air and on land, to protect Trump Tower. The Secret Service is planning to rent two floor of Trump Tower to protect Melania and Barron. No, the salaries they are foregoing do not come close to covering those expenses.

I think the problem is paying for security. I'm sure Trump can afford to pay for the upkeep on the place where he's been living. I have no idea what the amount of money is, but the taxpayers are not going to be for rent or upkeep, toilet paper or ketchup.
