On Top of the Doghouse

It has become routine for Skip and me ... to sit on top of Duke's doghouse with Duke. Duke will lay between us ... we talk to him.
This evening I sat on top of the doghouse ... Duke jumped up beside me. I had news to tell him ... a friend of ours is paying for his surgery to be neutered. We are most grateful. We are waiting for the phone call that will give us his appointment. It takes 3 working days to hear back from SNAP-NC.
All the while I sat there ... I patted Duke, rubbed his back, talked about all kinds of things. I told him that after the surgery we will work toward getting him, Kissy and Camie (our other 2 Pups) to be friends. My goal is to have Duke live inside the house with all of us. I want my babies to be together.
I realize this may take some time ... even months. I'm going to accomplish this. I don't ever want to have a dog who has to live outside missing out on the things our other Pups get to do .... lay on a blanket on the couch, loveseat ... lay on a blanket up on the bed ... be warm ... cool ... depending on the weather. You know all the things we do with our pets. It would be wonderful to have him cuddle up to be loved just like Kissy, Camie do.
Duke is here at his forever home. The couple who came to meet and greet with him decided Duke wouldn't fit into their life. He is very energetic and her husband has a hurt back ... also, Duke being a pit bull didn't help.
They understood Duke was at his forever home if they didn't take him ... we all agreed that it was a win-win situation for The Dukester (we nicknamed Duke ... The Dukester
. It was okay for them to take Duke ... because they had so much to offer him. It was okay for Duke to always live with us ... we are rich in love.
We have gotten into the habit of saying goodnight to Duke each evening ... talk to him, love him ... all three of us sitting up on top of the doghouse.

Sometimes, we can just do so much and no more!
This is probably the best Duke has ever felt in his life.
One of our dogs is complicated and has to be away from the other dogs. We take him for a ride regularly and let him in certain spaces here while the others are outside. Just wanting this one to be with people often, but it can become a job if we let it.

I am going to take one day at a time so, I don't become as stressed as I was. I don't want it to become a job just like you said. I want to stay excited about seeing him every day as I am now. I will do the very best I can.

I just need to say you and Skip are very special people. I am so happy that someone will help you get him fixed and make it work that all the dogs can be together under one roof.
