When you cross the street, do you look at both sides?

February 7, 2017 9:10pm CST
The world we live in is very hectic, and our pace of life (at least that of most people) is quite fast. A simple activity, such as crossing the street, can become - unfortunately - in a serious accident. So, do you usually look both ways before you cross it? I can't cross a street without looking both sides, it's almost like an automatic process (and unless it's something obvious, where there's no car).

Oh yes even on a one way street. I look both ways when I cross the street.

There's an old saying that the definition of a pessimist is someone who looks both ways crossing a one-way street. Whoever said that could not have anticipated the number of drivers I see going the wrong way up one.

Yes, I always do even if the street is a one-way road. I feel so safe doing that. Who knows a mentally deranged will drive his car opposite even if it's a one-way street?

When I was a teen I had a ridiculously awful attitude. I wouldn't watch for cars I wouldn't go and think that cars have breaks they will stop. It never occurred to me until I had children of my own how danger that attitude I had was. It could have gotten me killed or crippled for life.

Here there are many cars in the street. And therefore it is better to be much more careful. I always look around when I go across the road.

Yes I do even in this rural area I live in right now. Though once, I was in a small town still.. I had looked both ways and I have no idea where this car came from but he didn't even stop for me crossing the street and I was in the other lane! It was scary.

It just makes sense to look both ways before crossing a street.

Yeah I do watch on both sides, its heavy traffic these days in here. I don't wanna die so early I still have lot of things to do in my life. So I watch on both sides carefully before crossing the path. It gives me goosebumps if I don't.

ALWAYS. There are crazy drivers everywhere . . . better to watch for yourself and not assume others are watching for you (I tell my kids this all the time!).

You can't let me cross a street without looking at both direction. Even if it is one way, i still look at both direction because there are motorists who sometimes do not follow rules.
