at the train station

My fingers are freezing. I'm quite sure they're becoming bitten by frost, but I want to make use of the station's free weefee so I'm sacrificing being warm and cosy for being excruciatingly cold.
I had a woe is me moment upon entering the station. This was partly because I haven't been to this one since they began remodelling it, but mostly it was because about a hundred trains had come in and deposited about a million passengers, and they were all streaming through the foyer bit at the same time. Plus there were all the commuting folk wanting to get in to the station to catch the trains so they could get home for a lovely cup of tea and a digestive biscuit. I normally love travelling at trains, but I can't cope with unexpected crowds of noisy people.
It's a tad boring to be honest. A woman keeps coming on the tannoy to tell us that smoking isn't allowed, even e-cigarettes which we all know are pointless inventions anyway. The London bound train is delayed because of an unexpected problem. A man missed a train by two seconds. He wasn't happy. I can only see three people who aren't on their phones. What did we all do before we possessed phones to keep us entertained?
My train will be here soon and I'll see my Mumsy in one hour and a little bit.
Hurray!

I had a book too. That kept me a little occupied on the train. :)

I did, once the girl sitting practically on my lap got off the train!

oh @poppylicious I feel for you. Train stations are magically melancholic places when empty but when crowded they reek of misery. There is no sense of romance or adventure under such woeful circumstances, just the desire to be elsewhere and asleep.

Oh, I did see one touching moment amongst the madness. A youngish man met a youngish woman and they did the awkward hug and kiss that comes with that 'getting to know you' stage. It was very sweet. :)

Cold fingers were a sacrifice I was definitely prepared to make. Which probably makes me a bit stupid!
