Former Atlanta Falcons defensive coordinator Richard Smith, 61, who was released by the team shortly after their loss to the New England Patriots in Super Bowl LI in overtime after the team blew a 28-3 lead in the second half has been interviewed by the Los Angeles Chargers for their linebacker coaching vacancy.
Smith if he is hired would fill out the coaching staff in Los Angeles who will be led by head coach Anthony Lynn who was worked with Smith in 1993 when Lynn was a rookie running back with the Denver Broncos and Smith was an assistant linebackers coach and a special teams coach.
Call it another merry go round of assistant coaches leaving one team to coach another football team before the start of the 2017 football season.
