Day 156 Proverbs 17:15 Proverbs 17:15 He that justifies the wicked, and he that condemns the just, even they both are abomination to the LORD. People tend to justify their actions, even when those actions were wrong. Those same people also surround themselves with ‘yes men’ who won’t say a word against them. In justifying their actions, they will condemn those who are in the right, defaming their character and making themselves out to be just. As king and businessman, Solomon saw all types of people and showed that God did not tolerate any kind of wickedness. It was a common practice in Jesus’ day as well. It didn’t take much for the chief priest to find people who would lie about Jesus so they could condemn him to the cross. As Christians, you are to be honest in everything you do and say, so people will not misconstrue your actions. Matthew 5:13 Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savor, wherewith shall it be salted? It is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men. 14 Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hid. 15 Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. 16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven. Dishonesty led Jesus to cast the moneychangers from the temple, a practice condoned by the priests and Levites because it put profit in their pockets. It was the people who suffered from the moneychangers, forcing them to buy their goods for the temple sacrifice instead of the sacrifice they brought with them. Dishonesty is a common practice today. Pawn shops line our streets, easy loan shops are found almost on every corner. It’s easy to get a loan or pawn off your items, but the interest on the loan is very high, and the amount you receive for the item you pawn is very little compared to what they will sell that item for if you don’t redeem it in the given time. However, if you live an honest life, not condoning dishonest practices, God will reward you with the fruit of righteousness. You will find blessings coming your way instead of problems. Let’s pray: Father, help me live my life above reproach, not acting deceitfully or dishonest in anything I do. In Jesus’ name, I pray, amen. The salt of the world and the light of the world, that's what we Christians are called to be.

It's a bad habit to justify one's wicked act.

It is sad, - dishonesty and corruption seem to be everywhere.
