The Los Angeles Dodgers on Friday have reached a one year agreement with their second baseman Chase Utley, 38. Utley who has played in the Major Leagues with the Philadelphia Phillies and Los Angeles Dodgers since his rookie year in 2003 became a free agent at the end of the 2016 Major League Baseball season when his contract expired. Utley had no plans to retire after the end of the 2016 baseball season and he wanted to play at least one more season in the Major Leagues with a team that is in contention to make it to the playoffs in 2017. It is likely that Utley will be competing against former Tampa Bay Rays second baseman Logan Forsythe during the spring training sessions to determine his role with the Dodgers either as a starting second baseman or a role as a ulitity player in 2017.

I read Forsythe will be the starter. Utley will be pinch hitting and backup. The Dodgers really want his veteran leadership experience and he is very popular in the clubhouse.

Utley will be useful in a reserve role with the Dodgers in 2017.

A lot of one year contracts going around. Baseball pays well. I'm sure the season will go well for Utley. Be blessed.

Chase is getting up in age and a one year contract will suit him just fine.

I know what you mean. I did play Little League Baseball before I took up bowling and I never looked back.
