Cry me a river Oklahoma City Thunder fans

When will sports fans around our great nation wake up and learn that your favorite sports star is not going to stay with the same team that drafted him or her to play for your hometown team?
Case in point is the reaction of Oklahoma City Thunder fans who booed one of their former players Kevin Durant when he left the Thunder as a free agent to join the Golden State Warriors.
I mean Durant has the choice as a sports star to play basketball where he has the best chance to win a National Basketball Association Championship (NBA) ring whether you like it or not.
Now his mother Wanda Durant is crying the blues that those mean old Thunder fans insulted her son when he came wearing the colors of the Golden Stare Warriors on Saturday evening in Oklahoma City Oklahoma.
I just love those sports talk shows that should get an award for Best Drama Show like ESPN who will be talking about the treatment the Thunder fans gave one of their former players.
Walk a mile in the shoes of these sports stars, if you were offered a higher salary to play sports with another team when your contract expires, I am sure Joe Fan would take it faster than you can say "Word Up."
Remember kiddies, pro basketball for your entertainment only. Do not make these game the real life version of the Hunger Games movies.

You are not missing anything. People in Oklahoma City take their sports entertainment too seriously. Kevin leaving their team is not like losing a loved relative.

@dfollin It is a good sport even though there is no major basketball to cheer for in Lake Charles except for the McNeese State Cowboys which is a college basketball team.

As you are well aware, the average career of a pro athlete is fairly short. And these are highly competitive people. Of course they are going to go somewhere that pays more money and gives them a chance to win. I fail to understand why most people don't get that. Great post!

I agree with you. I mean Kevin Durant is not related to anybody outside of his family in Oklahoma City and fans should learn that fact. Come on Kevin is not a super hero anymore than I am the Crimson Grasshopper.

I appreciate Durant being the typical mercenary player and we would do the same but it's cool to boo him. That's part of the fun and the way it has always been in sports when a "traitor" returns "home."

That is true. And now ESPN is going to paint the Thunder fans as villains for booing Kevin Durant for jumping ship to the Golden State Worriers I mean Warriors for a ring. I will just laugh at them.
