What Do You Know About Disco Dancing?

Most people are familiar with the movie “Saturday Night Fever” with John Travolta. The year was 1977. The soundtrack for this movie is also very familiar to most people. The Bee Gees certainly popularized the disco beat nationwide.
The two years following “Saturday Night Fever” saw more than 10,000 disco nightclubs open in the USA. Donna Summer and Gloria Gaynor and many other disco singers became very famous.
Some of the new dances, including the Hustle, the Bump, the Detroit Shuffle caught the attention of many who wanted to learn these new dance moves.
My husband and I updated our 50’s “ jitterbug” dance steps to the disco music and went to many disco dance clubs during that era. We fit right in and some persons thought we were dance instructors.
I still enjoy the disco music and have very fond memories of that moment in time. The disco fad didn’t last long though. I think its because too many people could not master the dance steps and the craze was soon over. Sort of like the Charleston which had difficult dance moves also. Some learned the dance steps easily, but most did not.
Did you enjoy the “disco” years?

I despised disco in its heyday but now have guilty pleasure listening to KC and the Sunshine Band etc.

Oh yeah! KC and the Sunshine Band. They came to our annual Conference a few years back. Good music.

Yes, I still enjoy that music very much. I sing "Last Dance" at karaoke sometimes.
