Posting a really bad song makes me feel that I have to apologize for people who've spent years, if not decades, trying to remove the trauma of hearing those songs from their minds. I'm there with you. How about, to compensate, a song that mentions "Saturday" in its title? This should get those bad songs out of your head. Saturday Nite - Earth, Wind, and Fire After three country songs to start this series we needed a change of pace musically, right? How much different can this be?! Rock and Roll Hall of Fame group Earth, Wind, and Fire burst onto the national scene with "Shining Star" in 1975. They had been around for years before that, however. Musicially located somewhere between P-Funk and the Spinners, EW&F could funk out with the best of them (such as this song), do pop-oriented R&B ("September") or great ballads ("That's the Way of the World"). Member Philip Bailey had a huge solo hit in the mid-80s, "Easy Lover," dueting with Phil Collins. Founding member Maurice White passed away last year from complications of Parkinson's disease. The band continues on today with original members including Bailey and Maurice's brother, Verdine White, as well as Bailey's son. Turn it up and dance! Saturday Nite Written by Maurice White, Philip Bailey, and Al McKay Recorded by Earth, Wind, and Fire From Spirit, 1976 You did what Simon said:
We covered this in our band... 1976 -- What a blast.

I need to go back and see what other Saturday songs you've included. Songs by The Bay City Rollers and Elton John immediately came to mine, as well as the song Meatloaf performed in the Rocky Horror Movie.

The song from Rocky Horror doesn't have Saturday in the title (the title of the song is "Hot Patootie – Bless My Soul"). Great song, though....it'll be on my "Patootie" countdown! As for the other two....

@FourWalls I just kept hearing the opening line from Hot Patootie running through my head. Couldn't come up with the title though. I'll be looking forward to your Patootie countdown.

A great funk group. Did you ever see the movie Shining Star?

@FourWalls Ha ha! The movie is from the 70s when Keitel was younger. Good footage of EWF.
