Yes, it's only Wednesday but it's time to look at another favorite song that has "Saturday" in the title. I also have a series ready for the rest of the week, but I noticed most of those songs are Sunday or Monday. Poor neglected other days of the week.
Here's the next "Saturday" song.
#6: Almost Saturday Night - John Fogerty
John Fogerty is one of those individuals I believe belongs in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a solo artist as well as his induction with Creedence Clearwater Revival. His solo career, while sporadic (the follow-up to the album with this song came out ten years later), has been marvelous and very successful. Fogerty, for his "acquired taste" voice (a guy born in Berkeley singing songs with a Bronx accent? Really???), is one of the masterful songwriters of the last 50 years.
The list of songs is long and iconic, from those classic CCR tunes to his solo career. "Technically," John Fogerty was his first solo album with his name on it; in truth, however, his great 1972 album of country music covers, The Blue Ridge Rangers, was all Fogerty.
This album featured "Rockin' All Over the World," which was a minor hit for Fogerty and a staple for Status Quo when they covered it. "Almost Saturday Night," Fogerty's 45 follow-up, didn't do too well. It gained new life when Dave Edmunds covered it on his Twangin' album in 1981 and released his version as a single.
Either version is great.
Almost Saturday Night
Written by John Fogerty
Recorded by John Fogerty

Enjoyed this. I'll have to check out how many Saturday songs there are since I have a music blog. Interesting to know that some days are sung about more than others.
