Listening Skills...

Listening as a receptive skill in second language acquisition, I would like to get good introduction about it. whatever conclusion i have drawn out are not satisfactory. Hope, I will get good response for my thread. Is listening a neglected skill in Language acquisition?

In any sphere at all, whether it is in any language, or in second language, or in life...Listening skill is of utmost importance. Good listening will help you to practice good diction of words. Art of phonetics will help you to spell words better. Hearing words clearly will promote there easier acceptence and relatation to other things. You can develop a good understanding in any language only if you have receptive skills.

But I feel that L1 listener and his listening capacities varies highly from that of L2 listener. I want more clarifications. That's wat am looking fo... Anyhows, thank you...

I agree, L1, will definately differ from L2, in his capacities and in other fields too, but then at the same time, it will decide their relative understanding of the language or the topic of discussion as well.The one with better skills will fare better than the other one.
