A French man named Albert Kahn aspired to show life in all forms as it were in the beginning of the 20th century. His aim was to photograph people from all over the world in all walks of life.
These photos weren't meant to be works of art, but rather photographs that Kahn hoped would inspire respect for each other.
Unfortunately, while the project went on for some 20 years, it wouldn't be completed.
Here are the photographs that two French women took while traveling around Connemara, a region that stuck to it's customs and language even as places around them evolved.
Photographers captured everyday life and historic sites as part of a global "archive of the planet" project.
