good news, bad news

I came to the conclusion yesterday that the prescription-only gel the doctor had given me for my knee was a miracle cure. So I did some dancing with the Playstation4. I did four songs and puffed myself out ... I am utterly unfit. However, my knee refused to hurt. I jumped, I stepped, I marched, I twisted, but no. My knee was very happy, thank you very much. Fast forward a few hours and I woke up in pain. Well, I think it was the pain that roused me, but it could have been a cat. Or the dream I was having, which involved the end of the world, beetles and faces being magically {and painfully} removed, but recovering well after four days. I don't know how to describe the pain in my knee. It's really deep-seated so it can't be my joint. However, it does move around the knee and sometimes it itches, much like bones when they're knitting together after a break. And it's obviously not affected by movement, which I sort of knew anyway. *sigh*

When we use painkillers it tends to fool us that the problem has resolved itself when all we've done is masked the pain. We then overdo things because we think we are better. This is why I try to avoid painkillers. Pain is your friend when it comes to injuries and healing. You've probably done something to the ligaments if it feels really deep inside the knee.

@Poppylicious There's not a lot you can do really other than rest. Maybe some anti-inflammatory such as ibuprofen but that does tend to mask the pain too so maybe not what you really want. The problem with the knee is that you can never really rest it properly unless you are prepared to spend a few days sat on your backside with your feet up!!

I try not to use painkillers unless I absolutely have to. I don't even go to the doctor unless I absolutely have to! How do I treat ligament pain!?

Not affected by movement right away atleast... It still could be because of you going crazy and dancing like you had taken the miracle pill... but I digress... It itches you say? Did you tell the doc that? Wouldn't hurt to mention it even if it does sound silly to do so. Meanwhile, my knees "pop" nearly every time I move. I am looking forward (sarcasm) to future years where I have the same knee problems that my family has. Which include fluid on the knee, the necessity of knee replacement surgery...

I didn't tell the doctor about the itching, mostly gecause it wasn't at the time and I only remember when it does it. I'm sure she thought I was making it up anyway! I remember having Housemaid's Knee when I was a child. I should look that up and see if it's similar.

@Poppylicious I've never heard of housemaid's knee. Is it something caused by the way you sit or recline on your knee? So the doctor thought you were faking it? Hmmph, I wouldn't want to go back to them after that.

@ScribbledAdNauseum I think it can be caused by almost anything, but I can't think of anything specific that caused my pain. It is only my paranoid mind that thought that she thought I was faking it. I doubt she would have given me prescription-only meds if she really thought that!

What about water? Do you drink plenty of water. Sometimes our bike hurts because of lacked in water intake. God bless. I pray that in Jesus name your knees will get better soon.

I try to. It doesn't seem like the type of pain which would be affected by lack of fluid, but who knows!

Just Dancing 2017. I'm not keen on most of the tracks, but there are a few gems on it.
