Genghis Khan Most of us have heard the name of Genghis Khan, but who was he and when did he live? He was born in 1162 in the foothills of Mongolia and became the founder of the Mongol Empire and historically, one of the most famous emperors to ever live. He died in 1227 at the age of 65. His real name was Temujin, meaning “ironworker.” Supposedly, he was very tall, had a long beard, green eyes and red hair. Hmmm. Today, you can find his face on a wide range of products, currency, and streets in Mongolia, as well as the main international airport. Some genetic scientists who have done some intensive research believe that Genghis Khan may have fathered hundreds or perhaps even thousands of children, as his armies invaded large parts of Eurasia. What do you know about Genghis Khan?
