Why does it take a point away when you start a discussion?

I have this happen all the time. And the point doesn't come till someone responds. Why is that?

If it takes it away it's because you created a junk discussion just trying to get paid. If it waits until people responds that's because you earn points when people respond to discussions, not when you start them.

There is either a glitch in the system or maybe you are repeating a question or you created a question that is a yes or no answer. I think they are getting on people for making silly questions or short answer questions.
