the confused land

The place where I reside is a trifle confuzzling at times.
It shouldn't be. For starters, it's flat. Oh, there's an occasional hillock of sorts, but it's ridiculously flat. I can see for miles. Houses are dotted about, the sort of houses where naughty teenagers were sent in the fifties due to them being miles from anywhere. A couple of water towers live on the horizon. Oh, no. It's the same one; it just keeps moving. We have an awful lot of wind turbines, clustered together in little pockets of windy land. Sometimes they just magically appear ... POOF!!! ... and then there were four.
At this precise moment in time I can spy a farm of wind turbines to my left. Five minutes ago this very same flock of wind turbines was on my right. Now they're on my left again, but bigger-nearer. The rising sun moves from left to front-left to front and back to left. It's a bright orange ball in a pinky blue sky.
It's a very disorientating landscape. The villages are fairly close together but the nature of the land pushes them further apart; we can't really have many straight roads around here because they will just sink into the Fens. Instead the roads are twisting and curvy, which makes everywhere take longer to get to.
It's not really the back of beyond, but it certainly feels like it.
And now, the sun is back-right. I appear to be doubling back on myself. Silly Flatlands.

It would make a good setting. There's bound to be an undiscovered serial killer or similar in these parts!

I doubt I'd be looking out the window at your place if I was "three sheets to the wind"

I was on the bus. At home I can see nothing but houses!

Very descriptive writing! Thank you for sharing this. It seems I am as confused as you even if I haven't stepped foot on Silly Flatlands!

It probably would have helped if I had said that I was on the bus! Reading it back, it does just sound like gobbledygook!
