This is the first time I have heard about this Story, could you tell us a bit about the plot? Then we can see how exciting it is and maybe go and read it. You always have good suggestions for novels so I will go to the library when it opens and have a look to see if they have it there. Happy reading my friend!

Rose 'Brother Cadfael' - 'Brother Cadfael' is an English rose, bred by David Austin, it's flowers are looking a bit like peonies.
There is a link you can get more information about it. There are TV series too, with Derek Jacobi as Brother Cadfael, unfortunately I haven't seen more than just a half from one episode. http://www.steveconrad.co.uk/cadfael/index.html And, there is even a rose named after him!

I finished reading the first book of Ellis Peters last night. The book is well written (mind you, I read a translation and not the original book, though). The style was clean, almost no blood. The book was more centered around promoting some values and discussing the relation between fathers and sons. There was a crime, but it was not at all at the center of the book. On the other hand, the book was very exotic thanks to the historical setting where the events took place. It was a nice reading in all. I still have 2 other books of Peters to read, the second one seems to be more contemporary. I have just read 3 pages of the book before crashing out. Thanks for the suggestion. I will check if they have the original text at the library.

That is one reason why I like it - the brainwork is valued. I'm not very fond of the stories where the blood is splashing around all the time. As for historical background, I read once, the Shrewsbury Abbey is enjoying the flood of visitors because of Ellis Peters' fictional Brother Cadfael. There HAS to be something in! I've read translations also, and not everything isn't translated to Estonian yet. Two stories I had to read in Russian, it's takes a lot of time, because of Russian letters.

I've been to Shrewsbury, they're definitly getting popular because of the books. Cadfael is fictional though, but many of the other characters are real.

I picked up 3 novels written by Ellis Peters, based on your kind suggestion. I started reading 'Brother Cadfael's Penance'. I am at page 50 now and starting to get hooked to the book. I admit that I was kind of lost with all the historical details that were provided at the beginning of the book. But now, I am getting more and more familiar with the book characters.

I do, I've read all the brother Cadfael books. Haven't staret on her other books yet, but I might. I need something new to read soon.
