Have you ever been a victim of a crime? That may be an awkward question for some. As you read this discussion, you may not have been and God bless you. The fact of the matter is that this is a dangerous world and things can happen in a split-second and change you and your families life forever. Years ago, when I was driving a cab in Norfolk, Virginia, I was driving the night shift (7pm-7am). The year was Jan of 1988. I was driving some long hours to support my family. I was about to turn in my cab because it was after 3 am and was a slow night. I was at a convenience store when two ladies got in my cab and told me to drop them off a few blocks away. So, I went and turned on the meter. After we arrived at their destination, they left the cab but told me that someone would pay. A person approached my cab walking with a limp. He asked about the fare and pretended to be looking in his pocket for the money. Next thing I know is that he takes out a silver.38 and aims for my head. By the grace of God, he shot my arm and then he tried to shoot me at the driver's side of the window, but again he missed. Shattered glass exploded all over me but by God's grace, I was not, badly, cut. I called the dispatcher and informed her that I had been shot. She called the ambulance and the police. I was touched to see my taxi co-workers rush to the scene. I was rushed to the hospital. When I arrived, the doctor took a good look at me and gave me the report on my arm.The bullet came and exited through one side of my right arm. The doctor told me that it had missed a major artery. Friends, I credit my faith in Jesus for having protected me and my family. My wife was pregnant at the time but by a miracle of God, she found strength and did not have a premature delivery. It's been more than 28 years and my son was, eventually, born on April 14, 1988 without no problems. Looking back, I thank God for my survival. I have found healing and put closure to this after many years. How about you? Have you've been a victim? Are past memories haunting you? Let's talk.

You could have lost your life - but as they say - "It wasn't your time yet.". I have been a victim - but nothing as serious as yours.
