How Would Alien Life Forms Communicate?

When you think about life outside this planet there are endless, infinite possibilities of what we might find. There might be weird slime that change color when they are happy for all we know. How do you think alien life forms would communicate? We communicate through sound, mostly, with a bit of body language thrown in. We aren't entirely sure how or if all animals communicate with one another or not. There is some studies that say that plants can communicate through their root system. Would you expect an alien life form to communicate perhaps telepathically? Well, what if they communicate through smell? You never know!

Have been watching a program called Open Case Files or something like that about Aliens or so called Aliens. I just hope that more or less they are like us and smile and cry like us otherwise I would be off in a flash I really would. However I love the Sci Fi Films. I love ET the best.

It would be scary if they are really different from us this is true. Although something to think about: Stephen Hawking one of the smartest men on the planet says that we had better hope there is not life on other planets. If they are anything like us it will be disastrous because just think how destructive we are even on our own planet.

@jhechorain I would hope that they would be better than us a better version if you like. Yes Stephen is a very clever man and a marvel. He is a man of courage to live with such a condition.

I would hope they are better than us as well. We think ourselves intelligent but sometimes I wonder. . .

Have you ever watched the movie "Arrival"? This movie gives a great idea of ??how they communicate.

I wish I could say something creative, but I think all the sci-fi movie/book writers have thought of all the possibilities . I seriously wouldn't know what to expect. They say a smile is a universal "positive" facial expression, so that might be a good start . . . but I don't know if aliens have faces or could smile .

I don't know if that is true about the smile. . . think about the "evil grin" emoticons? Also aliens might not have a face, that's true. They might not have a body as we consider one to be. Crazy to think about it all any way!

I believe many of the more intelligent ones would likely communicate telepathically. Body language might be a bit different. Sound. color and smell I'm sure would play a part in communication to differing degrees. I think meeting intelligent alien life in many forms (in the physical world) would be quite interesting and fun.

I think that might be right about the more intelligent forms but we may never know.
