Post Card Search

Post Cards have been rolling in from sixteen different countries so far. I am really enjoying my Postcrossing connection. I have mailed out 17 post cards and those have gone out to several different countries. I'm getting low on post cards and have not been able to find any. I'm finally going to go to the post card exhibit tomorrow if all goes well. It's supposed to be 73 F tomorrow so it should be perfect for running errands and visiting the museum. Here's another masterpiece from my cat coloring book.

I take it you collect postcards? Is there a group or something that trades them by mailing each other postcards? That sounds like a lot of fun. Maybe I could find a group like that for stamps. I casually collect postcards, but I'm a big stamp collector. I have a ton of recent US stamps that I need to get cancelled, I'm almost ready to mail them all to myself.

@IreneVincent Yes, I love collecting stamps from all over the world and the US. I collect some sheets of new issues, when the theme is something I really like, but mostly I like used cancelled stamps. I do buy a lot of new stamps so I can get them cancelled when I send out SASE's or send letters to my family members and they save the stamps for me. That Postcrossings sounds really fun. You should have no problem finding postcards in VA! That is my favorite state, and I go there on vacation almost every year, and always try to pick up a few postcards at the battlefield parks. How do you know how much postage to put on the postcards going to other countries?

@connierebel The cost of postage to send a post card to ALL foreign countries currently is $1.25 no matter which country you are sending it to. Postcrossings.com supplies the addresses. The members receive a post card for every post card they send out. You have to put an I.D. number on your post card and the person who receives it registers your number on the site and then you will receive a post card from someone else. Whoever came up with this idea was genius. And the stamps are fantastic. Is there any particular U.S. stamp that you are looking for. I have lots of them from my grandson's collection and I may have what you are looking for.

I'm hoping to find some that I can purchase, tomorrow at the Post Card exhibit at the County Museum. The exhibit opened this past Saturday and will be open until the end of August. I just don't know if they will have any for sale to the public or if its just an exhibit. I will find out tomorrow I hope.

@Tina30219 Yes, I'm going to run over there today and look. We went yesterday, but didn't realize that it closed at 4PM. We got there just as the employees were leaving the building. Dang!

Postcrossings.com is a FREE site that you can join which makes it fun and easy to send and receive post cards from persons in other countries. I am really enjoying it. I have already received post cards from 16 different countries. I send out post cards to others and when they receive them, they register my I.D. number with Postcrossings.com and then I receive post cards from other persons. So far, I've gotten post cards from The Netherlands, Indonesia, Finland, Taiwan, Ukraine, Russia, Australia, Canada, Chek Republic, India, China, Belgium, Germany, Switzerland, Sweden, Latvia, South Africa, and England. And I've only been a member for a few months. Of course, I have to send a post card out for every one I receive, but I am enjoying it very much. The postage for sending post cards to other countries is $1.25, no matter which country it is going to. I probably send about 5 each month. My challenge right now is to find some post cards. I purchase several when I find them in a store or at a historical museum or wherever I can find them, but around here, post cards are difficult to find.

Locating postcards can be a real problem in some places these days. When I was younger they were in abundant supply almost everywhere, but the advent of email and social networking destroyed the demand for them.

It is nice that you can still do this. I haven't received any postcards in years now.

I joined Postcrossings.com a couple months ago and I'm really enjoying sending and receiving post cards from a lot of different places. I'm trying to find an album or scrapbook that I can use to preserve them.

I like cats and so I was happy to find a coloring book with lots of cats in it. I also found one with peacocks, but they are more difficult to color, I think. It's been a challenge because of the very vivid colors that I need to use. I'll be happy to see how the first one that I'm working on now is going to turn out.
