They will either be overcome with joy to meet another 'intelligent' species, or they'll consider us vermin and wipe us out.

Yes I agree with you.
But If they are not that much intelligent then they might not survive in front of we humans because we will only do what we are doing with the animals on our planet. I am very much fascinated by these things and I have an aim to become an astrophysist.

I think we are not alone because there is a great certainty that there might be a planet with perfect atmospheric conditions can start life of some creatures, but more important question is that is there any other intelligent creature in universe like humans?
