How Long Do You Wait in The Doctors Waiting Room?

What amount of time do you think is too long to wait to be seen by a doctor? I am talking about a private practice, not hospital emergency room.

I recognize you. It's been quite a long long time since I've seen you here though. (somecowgil here). As for your question? A private practice doctor? Hmm.. You should have to wait no more than thrity minutes AFTER the scheduled time. Though you shouldn't have to wait at all. A good doctor's office would you have in the room a few minutes before your appointment is to begin. As for the matter of waiting in the examining room, oh I hate that! It seems like they bring you back and then you are waiting an extra few minutes before being seen at all. I think, within the examining room, you should only need to wait (at most) ten minutes.

Hi nice to see you. Yes i actually forgot about this site until i got a email that someone commented on a post. I ended up walking out after 45 minutes. I also found out another lady was scheduled the same time as me, and there where more ahead. If the dr spend 15 minutes with each patient ahead of me, i was looking at a two hour wait.

@Debscrochet wow! Why would they double book an appointment like that? Unless they knew one case would only take a few minutes?

Do you want my opinion ....I think most appointments should be on time. Doctors can get behind due to unplanned situations which could occasionally mean a long wait. From time to time I can and will be patient, but if the doctor is always late....they need a different scheduling secretary.

I agree, but the doctor is no better. I complained to him about the long wait (even at the rescheduled appt.) No apology etc. Blamed the government, Obama etc. Really ticked me off.

@Morleyhunt It burns me up, and they make sure to get that co-pay if you have one also.

@Debscrochet when I used to take my mother inlaw to the oncologist. We would have an appointment for 1:15PM. We would be lucky to leave the office at 4 PM after spending. 5 minutes with the doctor. This happened every six months.....

Depends on what type of Doctor I am seeing and where I am seeing them at. Right now the doctor I see I can get in and out of there pretty quick. My old Doctor always had to wait. Some of the specialists, it can be a long wait especially if they have a lot of clientel they are seeing for the day. Even sometimes when I even book my apt early in the day.

Have not been to a doctor's office in a while but whenever I did go I was always prepared to wait a while. If I got there on time and was invited in right away, it was a shock!! I think the longest I might have waited is up to 2 hours. Longer than that would have been because of an emergency for the doctir and back-up had be called to have those patients with appointments seen.

I won't wait more than 1/2 an hour tops, unless there's certain circumstances involved, even still, they should tell you the dr is running late and give you the opportunity if you would like to wait or reschedule before that much time goes by.

@Debscrochet - I agree. But the reason I wait is because I don't want to reschedule.
