While you were typing a message, did you already say that you were laughing (using some image or any code) but you really hadn't found any funny of the content of the message? It happens to me a few times (with people that I don't know) and I laugh so I don't get the impression of being ignorant or grumpy. But, when I'm with my friends I can't fake in that way.
