As we get ready to slide into daylight savings time, losing an hour of sleep, it's time for me to give you another song that has a day of the week in the title. Back when I did the series focusing solely on "Saturday" songs, more than one person was waiting for "Saturday in the Park." I'm happy to say the "park" has finally made the countdown...just not that song. #4: Another Park, Another Sunday - Doobie Brothers There are two distinct phases of the Doobie Brothers: BMM and AMM. If you're familiar with their history you know that stands for "Before Michael McDonald" and "After Michael McDonald." Usually, fans of the latter aren't crazy about the former, and vice versa. Guilty as charged. I prefer the band without the "special sauce." It's not that I don't like McDonald's voice, but having him take over the Doobie Brothers is like (WARNING to @teamfreak16 - here's another reference to "that singer" I like to pick on, so don't drink!!) Geddy Lee singing lead for the Oak Ridge Boys. The music changed dramatically after McDonald joined the band. And, as I said, it's not that I don't like him. I really love the song "Nothing But a Heartache" (I think that was on Livin' on the Fault Line), but by and large they became a completely different band after he became the primary lead singer. While that was their greatest commercial era, I still prefer the days of their cover of "Take Me in Your Arms (Rock Me,)" "Long Train Runnin'," and this terrific song. It may have been an "answer" of sorts to Chicago's 1973 hit "Saturday in the Park," but I think it's a great song without trying to draw any comparisons. While that song told of the "joys" of being in the park, here the sadness of being alone ("I'm lost without you") while everyone else is enjoying the day is the focal point. Most everyone forgot this song when the next single, "Black Water," came out and hit #1. That's too bad. This is one of the great songs of my favorite era of the Doobie Brothers. Another Park, Another Sunday Written by Tom Johnston Recorded by the Doobie Brothers From What Were Once Vices Are Now Habits, 1974 Starin' out the window:

I am in the Patrick Simmons-Tom Johnston camp. That's who I saw perform live.

Even though I owned Livin' on the Fault Line, I'm definitely a BMM guy. And luckily, I had just put my coffee down!
