What would you do? My son was left on school bus.

He has CP and cannot walk or talk. He was in 1st grade and the bus driver had two children to deliver home. He took one home and went and parked the bus and went home. Was left on bus about a half an hour before we figured out where he was. He had fallen asleep and was not even scared.

I would bring him to school myself if at all possible. Every parent has rights and I would not care what anyone thought or said I'd want to know for absolute certainty that my child was safe. I would make a report of my findings and stipulate that I wouldn't think it was fair for someone like that to get their job back and give it to the school board and leave it at that, because then I know that they would know what I think, and that I did what was in my power to do. It was a blessing that God was with your little boy that day. We could all learn a lesson from this. Much good luck to you and your child in the future. Take care.

We did start taking him to school and we did let them know our thoughts. I guess what we thought did not matter. It will not happen again.

I just could not believe it even happened. Especially with only 2 children on bus.

I HONESTLY mean NO disrespect, but.. may I ask how your son got on the bus if he could not walk. Or why he didn't have a person caring him that would pick him up and take him to school and such? As for the bus driver, I also think he should have been fired! There's no excuse for that!

My son was 20 lbs. and could use a walker. We put him on the bus in the morning and someone from school would carry him off. We would then meet the bus in the afternoon to get him off. They reassured us that he did not need an aide on the bus. We should have pushed for one, I guess. I would have never in my wildest dreams thought it would be just to make sure he made it home. There is now an aide on that bus all the time, but I still take my son to school and pick him up.

Wow. I'm glad he wasn't scared but I hope you reported this to the school and the bus company. I mean I'm sure you did already. I'd be super pissed. Livid.

un freaking real! well if thats not neglect i dont know what is!.. i would have sued the transportation system for allowing an "old-timer" who obviously struggled remebering what seems to be the most BASIC of his job responsibilities... for endangering the welfare of a child.. they would come down pretty hard on the transportation company because its not like theyre an office daycare center that left out a stapler!.. this is a company of whoms SOLE responsibility is to transport our children SAFELY to and FROM school... whats statute of limitations?? .. lol.. for real though .. i wouldnt have so much gone after the bus driver (who was obviously not capable of handling his one responsibility!) i'd gone after the people who allowed him in that department for so long as his age crept on without checking him!

Oh my goodness. I'm sure the guy meant no harm, but still!!!! I guess I would have just reported it to the school, but I wouldn't want this guy driving my kid anymore. This is why I am so picky about who I turn my kids over to. When my daughter was in Kindergarden she rode the bus. It makes a stop in the court square. She has an aunt that works in the court house. One day she decided she wanted to go and see her aunt, so she just hoped right off the bus and went into the court house. Imagine my surprize when I got that phone call!! I was livid. What if her aunt hadn't been there that day? I reported it to the school, but I don't event think the driver got written up. URRRRGGG!!!

its a surprise that your son wasnt scared.its very bad that the driver wasnt fired.he is irresponsible.if you dont have time to take your son to school then there is no other way.adjust with the driver and hope that the driver doesnt make the same mistake twice

Thank goodness your son was ok. I worked as a one on one for a child with severe autism. One the first day of school on the second year I worked with him, I arrived at the school we were told he would attend as of 3 days before the start of school. He wasn't there and the idiot teache had told the school bus drive to put him back on the bus and take him to a middle school. This child is severely autistic with verry little ability to communicatewith anyone. I called his mother immediately and we finnally tracked him down 45 minutes later. His mother was furious, but at least he was safe.

That had to be a total mess also. I hope it didn't upset him too much. You never know the effects it has on them.

I would say something to the school about that driver because any driver that has a child with any disability should be AWARE of that child. Yes he wasn't afraid or hurt but what about next time?? Anything could have happened to him alone on the bus and anyone could have come and snatched him. I'm getting all worked up and that wasn't even my baby.

what is worse is my mother gets him off of the bus and when he was 10 min. late she called the school. After 20 min. she called the school and after 30 minutes they started paying attention. She is only about 5 blocks from the school and should have been the 1st one dropped off. They should have listened and maybe it could have been avoided.

That sucks! I would have to leave him somewhere and tie the guy up fr leaving my baby on the bus. Well, not baby but you know what I mean. How can you forget a child? Well, atleas he didn't understand.. that might have been a good thing. I hope he was okay!

Just make sure there is always an aide on the bus when your son goes to school.

go ballistic for a start, he would have been terrified if he'd woken up! The driver was obviously having a bad day and should've checked his bus before leaving it especially if he regularly carries special needs kids. I would take this as far as I could vand not let it drop - we need to know our precious children are safe and cared for when we allow these people into their lives. I feel quite angry and helpless for you. You and your son are special people and should never be overlooked.

I have had several bad experiences with my kids bus driver as well. It resulted in they don't ride the bus anymore.Bus Drivers need tp pay those kids on their buses better attention.
