I took an online survey for the chance at a 1000 dollar Walmart gift card ...

Should I have done this?
I have some measure of uncertainty about doing a survey online, much less providing my home phone, birthdate and such.
I know that the chances of winning that 1000 dollar gift card is about one in a million at best but the funny thing is, usually I would not do this. I am just wondering if any of you ones here at myLot have taken such a survey and how things went with you?
There is one thing that connects the survey with my experience and that is, I was playing Solitaire HD app for Windows 10, with ads, and the link to the survey happened during game play.
Have you ever purchased a gift card in a store? Most of us have, but there is a video below this discussion that I highly recommend for everyone who reads this post. You will be told what to do to avoid buying a card that gets all of the money on it stolen by criminals who use a cell phone camera to copy the barcode on the back of the card who wait for you to buy it. Watch the video and find out what I am talking about and give me your comments when you get the chance.
I recently uninstalled Solitaire HD app from my computer. The free version runs ads. From the ads bar, was the link to that survey. Just saying.

I never thought about that kind of scam. Thanks for the warning.

So far we got 5 calls, one last night at around 9PM and another this morning around 7:30AM asking for me by my first name. Then later in the day 3 hang up calls, then after that, one calling asking for a person by unknown name with my last name, then they said they were trying to get in contact with that person at an address I am unfamiliar with. The next time a caller asked if we were interested in a new form of medical alert offer. I did not answer the phone but recorded their messages on the answering machine.

After watching the video, it seems the gift cards we will avoid will be the ones with the peel off tab covering the bar code.

@lookatdesktop That is a good idea for many people to consider. Perhaps you should write about reloading gift cards (if you have not already done so) as most might not think about that.

Exactly, and by the way, if you already have used up one or two old gift cards, they are good for reloading. That way, there is less of a chance that the ones you have used already in the past have been compromised. I have several I have used that I keep to reload for future use. Same for cards such as Starbucks and Kroger etc.

I did paid surveys back in the day but since I'm an international users, surveys for me are hard to come by and it was harder to reach the payout amount.
Anyway, good luck to you. Hopefully, you get that $1000 Walmart gift card.

@lookatdesktop I only gamble at casinos on vacatios out of my country. That is the limit I set. There are casinos near where I live and I have never set a foot inside of them.

I think that is a good thing. A few quarters might get you back lots more for fun and games later at the casino. By the way I am not against gambling. I think it is a necessary pastime to give hope and thrills to hard working Americans who never seem to get a break in life. I don't do it just because I am an impulsive person and would get easily addicted to it and broke most likely. So for me I am out.
