in bed with

I am in bed with Bagpuss and Giraffe. Husband is downstairs with Headphones and PS4. I suspect Dora is attempting to squeeze herself into a tight ball of fluff on his lap. She's a very particular and finicky cat. Or maybe she's just peculiar. I was rudely awoken at three o'clock this morning. It was dark, my bladder was about to explode and the cats assumed it was breakfast time. As a result of it taking me a fair while to fall asleep again, I am now a tad tired. My eyes and body say SLEEP!!! but my mind says THINK ABOUT THIS AND THAT AND T'OTHER!!! I have a feeling that my sleepy eyes will win this particular little battle. Shush, now. Did you hear that? No? It's the pleasant and relaxing sound of silence. It's the most beautiful sound in the big wide world. I have lost my sense of smell. I can smell some stuff, like the bubblegum bath bomb which patiently awaits in the bathroom, but not other stuff, like my perfume or scented candles. Oh, I did get a whiff of a student this afternoon. Poo-ey! Time to sleep. I shall dream of long-forgotten lost cities and the possibility of time travel.

Time travel sounds good, forward just far enough to see the winning numbers in the lottery would be nice...

No, no. I want to go back in time and do something that messes with people's heads in the future that is now. But okay, lottery too. :)

@Poppylicious 6 numbers, just need the right ones... I think I have read of this dilemma in a couple of books, 'cos you can only do it once before the syndicates send the heavies after you...

Sometimes I forget that people here aren't in the same time zone! It's midnight there as I am reading this (8 pm here). Well Good Night, and Good Sleep. Ah Time Travel. Now that makes me think of one of my favorite movie series, Back to The Future. Though I've also thought about a book I once read, it was somewhat more science fiction than romance, but it was about time travel and finding love... I wish I could remember the title.

@Poppylicious The only thing that impresses on me is that it was a book written in the 70's maybe? For some reason I recall seeing a copyright of the 70's in the first few pages. Of course that doesn't mean it was written then. Oh well.

I was going to suggest The Time Traveller's Wife, but that's not really science fiction!

The idea of silence while trying to rest or sleep is so nice!

It is indeed. It's a shame that the thoughts in my head are constantly fighting the silence!

@Poppylicious Yes, we are our own worst enemy when it comes to the constant thoughts.

Especially if it turned out to be real and I then discover it in reality. They could call it PoppyliciousTown in my honour. :)
