LITE UP Texas is no longer ...

We contacted LITE UP Texas on the phone this morning and got the bad news. We will no longer receive the 27% to 30% deduction and savings on our electric bill through TXU energy, our local electric company. So, being forewarned is being prepared. I will be glad to use less electricity so save a few dollars. We can and will purchase a more energy efficient window A/C window unit that is 11.3% Energy Star Compliant and I will replace all incandescent light bulbs with LED bulbs, run the air on a higher setting and just learn to keep appliances off when not being used, such as my computer. I can turn it off instead of keeping it running 24/7. The things I need to do to save money. I do know that this summer will probably be a hot one and I know that window air conditioners use lots of electricity so with that in mind, I will be paying more for my electric bill during summer months, and not get the discount any more, but I do have control over the thermostat settings and will put it at 74 degrees instead of 68 degrees and use a night light in the hall that runs from an LED bulb instead of keeping the bathroom light on all night. If you have been getting discounts for being lower income this year and you live in the State of Texas, you will no longer receive discounts on your home electricity bill and I know that means some of us will have to pay upwards of 50 to 75 dollars more for electricity use in the hot summer months ahead so we all will have to be a lot more careful when we turn things on and off. I may just have to get used to going without Air conditioning sometimes just to save a few dollars. By us having to pay premium amounts of money for keeping our house cool in summer months, we will have to cut back on some things just to stay in budget. It won't be easy but at least we will not be blindsided. We already know, and now you know. Thanks for reading this discussion. Be sure to let your friends who live in Texas, that if they have been getting LITE UP Texas discounts on their electricity payments in the summer months, these discounts will not happen for the year 2017 and the foreseeable future.
