Mrs. Poe! (A book Recommendation)

Once upon a midnight dreary... While I pondered weak and weary... No, that's Mr. Poe, sorry. Mrs. Poe is a book I read a few years ago and remember enjoying. I would really rather not ruin the synopsis so I won't even bother trying to summarize the book itself. I do, however, recommend it. I remember having mixed feelings towards the characters. Mrs. Poe, the frail, childlike creature. You almost want to pity her. Mr. Poe, you want to reprimand, and Ms.Osgood? Well she was somewhat stuck in the middle of it all.
A vivid and compelling novel about a woman who becomes entangled in an affair with Edgar Allan Poe—at the same time she becomes the unwil...

I won't lie.. I recall having to put it down for several days as I just wasn't sure I could finish it. Ultimately, glad I did.

@ScribbledAdNauseum ~I never read much of Poe's work but have seen movies. I have a feeling that, like some authors, reading his work is like shining a light into his soul.

He was quite the character, wasn't he? We didn't study him much in school. Didn't study him til my senior year actually. Even then, it was his works and not his personal life that was the focus.

@flpoolbum Yes, I think that would characterize him very well. I don't think I've ever seen any of the movies adapted from his books. I have watched that episode of The Simpsons where they do "The Raven" though. Does that count?

I am not a big fan of History converted to fictionalized stories. A romance story like this one sells probably better if the author puts in it a famous writer like Poe, but is there some truth behind or is it just the result of the imagination of the writer ?

It is supposed to be truth. We never studied much on Poe in school. We read some of his work, but as for his personal life? I don't recall ever reading about it. I also haven't looked up anything to do with his personal life since. I'm somewhat of the opposite to you. I like to read fictionalized history and then take and do my own research to discern the truth from the author's imaginations. If anything, reading historical fiction makes me appreciate history more.

Sounds like my kind of book so I will remember it. Is it supposedly based on reality or just fiction?

I think it's suposed to be based in reality, but you know how author's imaginations can be.
