This weekend our high school is putting on their Spring Musical. It's the biggest drama event of the year, and a whole lot of hard work and planning goes into it.
This year they'll be doing The Little Mermaid. They try to do it as close to the Broadway version as possible.
Imagine the man power needed for the costumes and props!
My 14 year old has 2 roles. In the beginning he plays a sailor that has a few lines, and even some solo singing..
Then he also plays Chef Louis and will sing Les Poissons!
This week at school is usually called Hel\ Week as rehearsals run every night from the time they get out of school until about 10pm. They are running through dress rehearsals over and over until they have it perfect.
Unfortunately with the Nor'Easter we just got, school was cancelled on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Today was supposed to be the in school performance of the show.. but that was postponed until tomorrow.
Instead they'll be pulling the entire cast and crew from their classes today to do an all day long rehearsal.
Tomorrow morning they will do their in school performance as well as their evening show, and Saturday will be another show.
I'm sure they're all scrambling now due to the days off to make sure they're ready..
I will be seeing it on both Friday and Saturday night, and I can't wait!

Well you can't... it's been sold out for days!! Both performances!
Plus, you know, it's cold here and you're in sunny Florida!

Yes, it is a huge leap from last year. Last year was his first year in the musical, before that he did stage crew for 2 years. Last year he was just part of the ensemble. No lines, not even a name, just a back up person. From that, now this year he has 2 solos and is considered to be one of the lead roles!

@fishtiger58 She (the director) like what she saw in him last year. He did have a lead role in the fall play as well.. now a couple big roles in the musical.
He's only a freshman!

I loved being in the plays and musicals when I was in high school. Your son sound like he loves it too...I can see how that weather can stop anything school related in a minute..so glad the show must go on and I look forward to hearing about the event.

It was wonderful! Even with their lack of rehearsal time this week, they pulled off an amazing show!

That sounds very exciting and stressful for the cast. I am sure they will be amazing! I remember when my daughter use to take part in the Musicals at school I always looked forward to them. What a proud moment for all the parents and for the students who worked so hard to make this Spring Musical happen.

I'm sure it's very stressful on the adults organizing the musical.. the kids are probably loving every moment of it all... the 2 days break from rehearsals and being taken out of classes...

@katsmeow1213 Yes I suppose that would be a bonus for them not so much for the organizers.
