I am so far behind now on Jessica’s poetry challenges that I feel quite guilty for writing my last poem without using her weekly prompts. Here is an attempt to make amends with one of the older challenges. The five words given there being hark, bells, chorus, joyful, noise Thanks Jessica @Jessicalynnt Not The End Of The World As We Know It Death woke early that glorious gory-ous Doomsday morning. Bells were ringing out their deadly ominous warning But the faithful just set out for church, feeling great While unbelievers also saw no grounds or need to evacuate . Warnings of attacks by sharks spark A cheery chorus of Hark The herald angels sing, Prompting the deaf to ask who Harold is The Four Horsemen can’t quite believe any of this They expect panic, fear And mass despair Instead they see a carnival atmosphere – everyone's going to the fair The Summer beaches fill with girls and boys Making such a sickeningly joyful noise Death realizes he is the only one not having fun He wishes he had swapped his scythe for a Gattling gun, He can’t bear such a happy atmosphere Pain, misery and pestilence are nowhere near. Death postpones the Apocalypse for some other day For now he leaves the masses to their play He sulks, moans and starts to fume One day he will bring forth our doom But not on a day like this, A day of happiness, love and bliss. But if it is not the end of the world, how am I supposed to feel fine? Cool poem and there is many people who do seem to want the end of the world to come.
