Chicago Cubs right handed starting pitcher John Lackey, 38, expects to return to pitch in the 2018 Major League Baseball season in 2018. Lackey will be a free agent at the end of the 2017 Major League Baseball so he knows that he will need to have a great winning season with the defending World Series champions in order to have a chance to pitch either for the Cubs or another team in the Major Leagues in 2018. Lackey feels physically great to pitch this year and next year. That is a good thing for baseball fans to know.

Only time and health will tell. He's had a good career with three World Series rings.

That is true. Lackey says he feels fine physically now. This year will be his test run.
