How to fix the NBA basketball stars taking a rest

If I were National Basketball Association (NBA) Commissioner Adam Silver the way I would fix the problem of some coaches, general managers and players who decided to sit out meaningless games at the end of the regular season would be like this. If any star basketball player decides to sit out a basketball game late in the regular season outside of an injury or health problem, that player should donate his game check to a local charity since the fans of the league who have fed the line of phony baloney that the National Basketball Association is "Fantastic" for many years. My best suggestion for these basketball players who decide to sit out a regular season game is to inform them that the patience of the working stiff who traveled miles to see their sports heroes just to reward their admiration by sitting out a game is starting to wear thin on them. Some sports shows on television have stated that the game of college basketball is gaining popularity due to March Madness is that the players stay out of the political arena and play for their school to win championships. The ratings for the National Basketball Association have taken a tumble due to the fans being fed up with the players taking days off because they can afford to do so.

When LeBron decides not to play a game in a city that sees the Cavs just once, some sort of major discount should be made to ticket buyers. Something needs to be done. The arrogance and contempt for the fans.

If LeBron James worked as a pizza delivery driver and he screwed up a pizza order, he would get a severe tongue lashing from the customer he would never forget. Too bad the NBA treats the fans like we are their lapdogs.

the players dont decide when to sit out, only on rare occasions. the team decides when they sit out. the college game and pro game are two different animals. college is kids playing, most for the last time in their lives. in the pros, grown men are getting payed to get their team a championship. its their job, its not quite for fun like in college. but i do agree on that if they dont play/sit out a game, then they should donate the games check. if in the real world you dont get paid for missing a day of work, why should an athlete get paid for missing a game when healthy. but i also think that if the team decides to rest him, then the team should pay. or maybe the league can have some stupid rule to where the players can only sit out 2 or 3 games per year, with out incuring a fine/penalty.

According to Doug Gottlieb the basketball teams that sit out their star players are doing it for the fans since the star player like Kyrie Irving would play in the NBA Finals due to his extra rest. The beef that Colin Cowherd has is that the star players sit out the national television games on ABC, ESPN and TNT.

@Plethos That is what the coaches of the teams that defend their benching their star players since they claim the player will play more years if he takes a day off from time to time.

@Deepizzaguy - once the team clinches a playoff spot thats for certain, why risk injury to a star player? dont matter if its a televised game regional or national.

Me too since seeing a basketball game in person is fun. Of course I remember seeing the Panamanian national team play basketball at the Roberto Duran Gymnasium which was then called New Panama Gymnasium.

I just see it as part of the game. I want to see Steph, Kevin, and the rest of the Warriors HEALTHY when they playoffs roll around. The Warriors lost a championship last year because of NBA greed (the phantom nut grab--more games = more revenues) and an injury (Bogut). I'd like to see all teams at full strength come playoff time.

That's actually a really good idea. They need to do something.

How do I think I would feel if I went to see a Donna Summer "tribute artist" 70 miles away not performing because "she is too tired" from working two night shows in a row. For example I would travel from Lake Charles to Lafayette Louisiana to be given the bad news. I would be furious.

Give them penalty... And please don't let Silver start resting of players, the team will follow. If he allow one, he'll allow everyone.

My attoney has told me that there are days he wants to rest since he is rich with money but he has his duties to help his clients.
