When A Discussion Turns Political Drama

I think I am not going to ask any questions to start a discussion on Facebook anymore. I would rather get feedback here. Facebook seems to bring drama. I like to ask a question to discuss it using intelligence and fact. For others to be open minded, not judging others. Not arguing. I know wishful thinking, right? The last question I asked."I have been thinking and wondering if the wall that Trump wants to build will turn out like the Berlin wall. If so, is it really worth the expense? If not, what would be another alternative?" Seem to get out of hand that I stopped responding. As some people are very vocal on it. Later the next day I was talking with a lady who lives in Canada. We ended up discussing the difference between our two countries. I bet we talked for hours. I had a great conversation and learned a thing too.

I don't see that much drama here. I don't mind discussing immigration and other touchy issues. Everyone learns from open discussions.

That is why I plan to join in the discussions here and create my own.

I think we should stop using im and em and just call it migration. Migration has been a human trait for over 3 million years.

@DWDavis It is not migration when one set of people want to take over and change others. It is called an invasion. I believe there is a big difference between migration and invasion. Migrate is to blend in and integrate. Invasion is a take over.

I find that any post I put up on FB questioning something PDT has done brings the Orange Kool-Aid Drinkers blood to a boil. I posted my displeasure at something PDT's OMB Director said and suddenly the OKADs are lecturing me about all the money Michelle Obama spent going on vacation. They are ridiculous.

I use to have a many open minded friend son Facebook where we could discuss anything with an open mind. Now it seems anyone who disagrees comes out of the woodwork attacking and name calling because they are offended at something.

@DWDavis I have seen mudslinging both sides. I think it is wrong.

@rusty2rusty I was unfriended by several DT supporters starting back in August of 2015 when I started posting reports of things he'd said and how he really conducted business throughout his career. They started off calling me some vicious names. I guess they couldn't handle the truth.

So many people are surprised that Canadians are not simply Americans who live in Canada. We have our own unique national personality.

Not sure why anyone would think that about Canadians, as America and Canada are separate countries with different laws and traditions.

OMG, are you serious? Some people don't know Canada is a separate country from the United States? We're even more dumbed down than I thought! I mean, Canada is part of NORTH America as is Mexico but there are three separate nations in North America. Wow, I remember a FEW things from 3rd grade geography...lol!

Canada is a country, with it's own form of Goverment and leaders. Seriously, who comes up with some of this stuff?

the american wall and the berlin wall are two different things. yah, facebook is full of people who love to use colorful langauge when it comes to politics. besides, if that happened on here, at least youd be making some money off of it . and the more people that fight on here like the bad ar$e keyboard warrriors they are, the more money for you.

Not really. They both are a large land mass trying to separate two areas. As for the keyboard warriors, that's true. I could make some money discussing things with them based on opinions. Most are opinions.

@Plethos Still doesn't change what I said. They are both a large land mass separating two areas. When it comes to that part of Texas and Mexico you can't tell the difference. It all looks the same.

Yep, I will not even speak my feelings on the country, I get tired of being told I am wrong. All the while doing the happy dance about getting rid of Obama care.

@anniepa That's how I feel too. I was taught to never talk about money, politics or religion with friends otherwise you may loose friends growing up. It still seems to be valid.

@rusty2rusty There's no reason we can't be nice to each other even when we disagree politically. Politics is only one part of who I am. I enjoy discussing it, I was brought up on it, but I hate it when people take it personally and start name-calling and hurling insults.

Yeah, I try to keep it light on Facebook. I really don't post anything political or respond to anything political on there because it always gets out of control. I learnt this a long time ago by reading others posts and comments. So anything political or controversial I save for here or my blogging sites where I know it will be a drama free discussion.

I learned the hard way. It tells me about a person on how they react to those types of discussions.

@melissa1024 I agree, one can have a different opinion and discuss something with an open mind. Instead of attacking, name calling, and having the mind set they are always right.

@rusty2rusty Yes, I believe everyone has a right to express their opinion but just because you don't agree is no reason to act like a kid and argue back and forth like kids. Lol. So for the most part I've learned to avoid those discussions on social media!

I avoid discussions on politics, especially on Facebook. I don't want to engage in a heated conversation with my family and friends. Often times they get a little nasty and then I will avoid them in order to maintain calm.

@rusty2rusty I avoid all political posts. I had family jump down my throat when I even commented or shared something that I felt worthy of sharing.

I have an account for family and friends. I also have an account for blogging, networking, and game-playing. I did this because my ex-husband was stalking and causing issues on Facebook. Things were peaceful till this last American election. Now I am afraid to post anything that will offend someone. I have been de-friended and blocked from people I have known from years online because I voted for Trump.

I've noticed that many people who comment about politics and other matters on Facebook, do so without facts to back them up. They get very emotional and sometimes hateful to anyone who dares to disagree.

Yes, too many don't bring the facts. I will back up with facts or ask for them from someone who thinks different. I am not longer going to do it.

Whenever people post political stuff on facebook it always gets out of hand. I'm not all about politics so i don't post any of that stuff but i do read on it sometimes. Glad you had a nice conversation with that lady - it's always nice learning about someoneelse's country.

@Blondie2222 I mostly ignore the politic stuff. I am not into the politics like I was before the election. Now all it seems people spreading lies about President Trump or complaining now matter what he does.
