Why Are "People of the Book" More Godly than "People of the Stars"?

Repositioning the Pulpit?

Reviewing my horoscope-readings today, I kinda wondered 'Is there a conference of astrologers?' It reminded me how the 'Christian' church (or maybe the 'Jewish' church, or maybe 'the Christian-church back when it was more like "New Age Judaism"') was called 'the People of the Book.' And I'm wondering how they managed to 'steal God'---making the words people receive by interpreting 'older words' "more godly" than the words people receive by interpreting 'the arrangements so high above us that only God could have made them.' Thinking of this, I found http://www.churchofastrology.com/ The Church of Astrology. But so-far it looks like 'just one guy, making random comments.' How can we build The Church of Astrology to be more-respected if not by reaffirming that "it's God who set the stars in their positions"?

I'm not sure I would call even people of the book more Godly today given the amount of hatred and bigotry they've been preaching. I do realize that saying you are Christian is not the same as BEING Christian, but since they are the most visible, they give the impression that all are like them - much like the Westboro Baptist hate group in Kansas make people believe all Baptists are weird and potentially hateful. As for an Astrology church, they do exist, although not called by that specific name. They frequently attend Christian church while privately pursuing astrology, but they believe God has a role in their beliefs. Many mystics and pagans believe in astrology and God at the same time, although the god they believe in isn't the traditional Judeo-Christian god. I really like your New Age Judaism comment, though. That's exactly what it was which is why there were differences of opinion on whether they should be circumcised or required to attend the temple in order to follow Christ.

That's good. I think the point--tho--is "what makes 'a retelling of the story' more-godly than 'the night-sky's projection'?
