When the Washington Nationals open the 2017 Major League Baseball season against the Miami Marlins on April 3, 2017 at Nationals Park in Washington D C, the likely starting pitcher will be Stephen Strasburg. Of course the Nationals have to complete their remaining spring training baseball games and hope that their starting pitchers remain healthy for the remainder of the season. One reason the Nationals are not sending their ace pitcher Max Scherzer on Opening Day is that Scherzer missed the majority of spring training recovering from a an injury to his right finger last year that has just healed. It is not set in stone who will be the starting pitcher of the Nationals at this time.

Strasburg has yet to be the great ace as predicted. He's been babied for several seasons.
