"I have the right to Freedom of Speech"

Okay. I'll agree with that.
Provided you understand what that right actually is.
And what it is not.
It is not the right to say anything, anywhere, without fear of censorship.
myLot is a great example (although almost any internet site would be just as good of one).
myLot has every legal right to delete anything you write here without violating your right to 'freedom of speech'.
Almost every newspaper, magazine, TV station or radio station has the right to not distribute anything you say without violating your 'right'.
The First Amendment to the Constitution of the United States says "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances."
Not a word therein states 'You can say anything you want anywhere you want'.
If I decided to kick you out of my house...or off of my website...or even, perhaps, fire you from a business I own...because you said the word 'flamethrower', it would not be an infringement upon your 'right' to freedom of speech.
I am not the Government.
I don't have to listen to you say things I don't want to hear.
Remember that 'block' feature?
Using it doesn't violate your right to 'freedom of speech' either.
You're perfectly within your 'rights' to go to another discussion...or perhaps create your own...and say whatever you want.
If myLot doesn't mind.
Just remember...myLot and 'freedom of speech' don't go hand-in-hand.
In fact, they may not go out together at all.

I recently found out the Block feature here is a complete joke, not only can you still see all the posts and comments by the person you blocked, they can also see everyone you post and comment on, the only thing it blocks i believe is them from commenting on your posts but i am not even sure of that.....

It stops them from responding to your discussions, from seeing your responses to discussions written by other people, and that is about it. If you make a comment (distinguished as a reply to a response) to someone else in a discussion written by someone else, they may still in fact be able to comment to you.
It has many drastic 'flaws'.

@JolietJake Yeah to me Blocking someone means neither person should be able to see any of you're posts or discussions, recently the person i blocked posted an article with the same title of a aticle i put up after blocking him, i just find it petty of the person to carry on the issue we have each other blocked lets move on.

@chrissbergstrom Unfortunately, you'll run into much more of that here than you would think. People are people no matter how much you might wish they weren't, if you know what I mean.

I see 'freedom of speech' bandied about quite often here and many times the person doesn't really seem to understand what it actually is.
If I had 'freedom of speech' there are people here that would flat hate me instead of just having an intense dislike for me.

Yes!
It's all over social media too, and sadly that place isn't getting as moderated as much so people can be as nasty as they please.
It's really common sense. We may argue, debate, offer differing opinions without forgetting manners, and etiquette. Problem is, most people have lost common sense.

freedom of speech often gets bandied about when people don't really understand, if you agree to work under the rules of something, then they can indeed limit what you say. Like a business not wanting you to sign your email with a bible verse, that always irritated me, it is not your business, not a place for you to push that in every customers face, put the company motto there like everyone else.

I've read enough posts that I don't want to read...that harp on someone said something that I disagreed with and then they didn't like my opinion....I feel like it's time to step out if the room at least for a day or so....then I come back to have another peek.
