Photo of More of the Post Card Exhibit

United States

Since I signed up with Postcrossings.com I've been on a quest to find more and more postcards. It's been a struggle because very few businesses around here sell picture post cards. In fact, I've only found ONE local drug store. None of the big Drug Store chains sell them. I've tried CVS, Walgreens, and RiteAid. Tomorrow I'm planning to call some of the motels in this area. They used to sell post cards in their lobbies. My last resort will be to drive to an Interstate Rest Area. I'm hoping that I can call first but have no idea how to do that. This photo is from the museum I visited today. They had a post card exhibit but no post cards for sale.

I don't know what area of Virginia you are in, but in Warrenton, the Mosby Museum had postcards, and also there's a museum in Front Royal (I dont' remember the name, even though I've been there several times!) All the CW battlefield parks have postcards in the visitors centers. Some of the truck stops have them too, but I don't remember which ones offhand.

@IreneVincent I saw in your other post that you live in the Petersburg area. I've never been to any battlefield sites in that area, so I don't know.

I'm going to call some of the battlefield parks in this area IF I can find the phone numbers.

Check your city area of commerce. Not sure what it is called in every city. It is called that in my local cities. It is where you find things about the city you live in. That is the only place that sells post cards in the whole city.

I usually find post cards in the major chains of bookstores.

Walmart has postcards that are appropriate to the area it's in. Like here, the postcards have cacti and desert animals on them as well as pictures of the city. I found them up front near the cashier's stands. What kind of postcards are you looking for?

There's a couple of really good online sites that sell postcards of all sorts that I purchase from for use on postcrossing. I'm not sure I'm allowed to mention the sites here, but they are easy enough to find. message me if you wan to know more.

Do you make money on postcrossings or is it just a fun site to send postcards to people?

No, there's no payment of any kind with Postcrossings.com. But I'm really enjoying receiving post cards from different countries, especially the stamps for my collection.

Hmm. Sounds like postcards are out of style these days. I've heard of Postcrossings.com but never did it.

I just got started with post crossings.com but when I joined I had no idea that it would be so difficult to find them. I hadn't sent a post card for years so was unaware that they were so hard to find.
