Happy Friday!!! The housework continues, but I'm at work, where I can get some rest. I'll start the day off right, with another song on my list of favorite songs that have a question in the title (not related to who/what/why...did that earlier). Here's the next song.
#3: Have You Ever Seen the Rain - Creedence Clearwater Revival
You knew these guys were going to make an appearance. It was just a question of this song or "Who'll Stop the Rain." Well, now you know which song won out.
Oh, dang, what a song. And yes, I've seen the rain coming down on a sunny day...happened all the time in Hawaii. However, according to Picky Wedia, the song is more about the friction in CCR (they broke up the year after this came out). However, as I've said before, that's part of the genius of John Fogerty. Superficially the song describes it raining while the sun is out. Given CCR's previous songs about the Vietnam War ("Fortunate Son" explicitly, "Bad Moon Rising" implicitly), people thought "the rain coming down on a sunny day" was a reference to the bombing in Vietnam. But Fogerty said the song was about the band's impending breakup.
It doesn't really matter. This is a great, great song.

Makes sense. It just doesn't have that protest song feel.
