Furs: politically wrong. / myLot

Several decades ago, when furs were something women wanted to have, my father bought a silver fox jacket for my mother. The fur is warm and it is not heavy all all in spite of looking so big. When my father died, my mother gave it to me That was 26 years ago. As I see it, this fur coat was made prior to any kind of care for animals. If I use it, someone will stone me, if I don´t, the fox (or foxes) will not return to life. This winter I have been thinking about how to survive in the cold season. I know I cannot put my fur on even if I was invited to the opera. But I was thinking about mylotting in my fur coat here, in my dining room

After all, saving on gas is politically correct now. I wonder, where are the minks of the neiges d´antan? Would you wear furs at home instead of spending in heating the house too much?

You can bet I would. After all who is going to see you when you are at home apart from Leticia? I would wear it. I have worn my Coat that I go out it and the Boots with socks inside as we have no Radiators here at all. It does get to be very very cold. You wear the fur and be glamorous even if its only for a while.

I have a small gas heater and a bigger gas heater that I only turn on for my birthday. The gas is terribly expensive. I noe have a small electric heater in my room and I can turn ot on at night as I pay less for the night´s electricity. That´s all. No central heating. I could not pay it.

@lovinangelsinstead21 I have a special electricity meter. They charge me a bit all year and it is called an "intelligent meter". They have 3 readings, one for peak time, another for normal and one for low. Low starts at 10 PM and ends at 8 AM. I can use that time to wash clothes or dishes with little expense. I would save even more if I ironed clothes (which I don´t

) I can put an electric heater in my room (closed doors) for some time wheile I´m mylotting.

@marguicha This is the same for us Margi. A small Gas Heater but he Electric Heaters here are a no no. They clock you up a huge Bill. So out comes your Fur to put on I can see it now.

No, but I would have no problem with wearing one outside. Of course furs are not the type of thing that I wear, but I see nothing wrong with them.

@Asylum I hope that some day it will not be politically correct to have lots of gadgets that are thrown away at a moments notice. Just think of all the keyboards you have had in yout life. I´m sure that you only had a few typewriters.

I have never worn furs except once I wore this same fur when I was in chemo and I was invited to a wedding anniversary. My friend was celebrating a zillion years of marriage so a lot of the ladies there wore furs with no problems. I had my worries, but it was the coldest church in the middle of the winter.

I am not interested in minks. Today there are more nice coats which are light and warm. And they have cool deisgn, too. This is why I will not think about minks. They are much more expensive and it is hard to handle them actually. Especially it will be a trouble here in the rainy season since everywhere is moist. I know some people may be mad at the people who wear in minks. In fact today there can be artificial fur and who can tell whether the minks are genuine or not

@youless It is out of fashion to have real furs because one should not kill animals. But these were killed decades ago.

@marguicha - Your words reminded me of the preacher's wife in our church when I was a kid. She used to wear a fur collar that retained the little heads of the critters from which the fur pieces came - little glass eyes and all. Used to scare us kids to think that they might bite the lady. -Gus-
