Raccoons on the doorstep.

Okay, maybe not quite that close- but close enough. About ten feet from the front door there was a raccoon about three minutes ago. She/he was eating the leftover rice we put out for whoever wanted to eat it. We do that just about every night, we leave whatever leftovers we know we aren't going to eat out for the livestock or wild animals that wander the yard at night looking for food. Most nights we catch the opposum, but tonight it happened to be a racooon who was looking and eating.

Raccoons are really cute until they get too close. They can make a mess of things when in the wrong place.

That's interesting. I had never seen it before. But I think it looks cute.

It won't take long for the 'word' to get out among this raccoon's friends and family @thislittlepennyearns . Trust me; I originally had 1 and now I have close to 20. And they will fight for the food.

@thislittlepennyearns ~I can't put food out like that anymore. The new neighbors are renovating the house next door that has been empty for years. Now, I have a mouse problem. They got into the panty and were chewing on the cardboard boxes of alot of my food. I had to throw it out. I have been buying glass storage jars with screw top on snap shut lids for my dry foods now. I also had bought a antique metal milk storage box with the name of the company that delivered bottled milk and dairy products when I little. I store my dog food in it. Those mouse aren't getting into my food anymore. I bought some oatmeal and plaster of paris and mix them up and leave out for the mice. They eat it then drink water. It causes the guts to harden and the die.
