Texas Rangers third baseman Adrian Beltre, 37, will spend the start of the 2017 Major League Baseball season on the disabled list due to a calf injury.
Joey Gallo will replace Beltre as the Rangers third baseman for a short period since Beltre will sent to the 10 day disabled list.
Beltre did not play in the Rangers final spring training baseball game versus the Kansas City Royals due to his calf injury.
The good news is that the injury to Beltre's cafe did not show any severe damage that could have sent him to a long time on the disabled list during the 2017 Major League Baseball season.

The Rangers need Beltre. He's their leader. However, Gallo is a heavily touted prospect and this gives him a chance to show his stuff.
