I know, the suspense has been killing me, too! #9 in my Favorite "Devil" Songs series belongs to a song by a band making their first appearance in one of my music countdowns: "I Shot the Devil" by Suicidal Tendencies.
Led by vocalist Mike Muir (the band's only constant member,) hardcore punk/thrash band Suicidal Tendencies formed in Venice, California, in 1980, and despite a hiatus, are still going strong.
Best known for their radio/MTV hit "Institutionalized" (yeah, you know it: "All I wanted was a Pepsi..." Well, you SHOULD know it,) Suicidal has been cited as an influence on bands such as Anthrax, Metallica, Megadeth, Hank III, Green Day, Pantera, and Rage Against the Machine, to name just a few.
From their self-titled 1983 debut album (produced by legendary Skateboarder Magazine photographer Glen E. Friedman,) "I Shot the Devil" was originally, until the FBI paid the band a visit, titled "I Shot Reagan." It's full of Suicidal Tendencies' trademark aggression and vitriol, and almost guaranteed to offend somebody.
Now, how about that Pepsi?

...but I didn't shoot the deputy....
Yeah, the Secret Service and the FBI tend to not have music tastes when it comes to someone mentioning a president's name and words related to killing, shooting, or otherwise harming. The Stones didn't get into any trouble with "I shouted out 'Who killed the Kennedys' when after all it was you and me." Isn't this saying the same thing regarding all of the assassinations/assassination attempts/murders mentioned?

You wouldn't, unless you listened to 80's hardcore punk.
