Passing the hat around

In our office, I can say that we stay together in a compact group. We share, help one another. When one of us needs financial help because he/she has a mishap that needs financial help, we usually pass the hat around.

Passing the hat around also happens in our neighborhood. i.e. when someone passed away, we visited the mourners and submit our offer of help.

yeah same in my office too, we help each other to meet financial problems.

That is a nice thing to do for your friends and coworkers. It happens here too, with some happy to help and others just not so much.
