Favorite "Devil" Songs #7 - "Devil Doll"

The Devil made me take a day off, but we're back with #7 in my Favorite "Devil" Songs series, counting down my favorite songs with the word "Devil" in the title (inspired by the recent "Angel" series by @FourWalls .) The 7th spot belongs to the Misfits' "Devil Doll." Horror punk band the Misfits were formed in 1976 in Lodi, New Jersey, by vocalist Glenn Danzig and guitarist Jerry Only. Despite a hiatus, legal issues between Danzig and the band, and a revolving door of musicians, the band is still going today. Highly influential, there are five Misfits tribute compilations, and their songs have been covered by a wide range of bands, notably Metallica, Guns N' Roses, Green Day, and NOFX. With vocals by Michale Graves, "Devil Doll" was not released as a single. In fact, it's only available on the 1999 compilation album of unreleased songs and demos, Cuts from the Crypt, and as a bonus track on the European and Japanese versions of Famous Monsters. Even so, "Devil Doll" is proof that the Misfits could carry on just fine without Glenn Danzig. All those kids you see wearing Misfit skull t-shirts are on to something. Enjoy! My list would have to include The Devil Went Down To Georgia (Charlie Daniels Band), Tribute (Tenaciou D), sympathy For The Devil (Rolling Stones), That Old Devil Called Love (Alison Moyet)

This is another group I've heard of, but not familiar with any of their work. Not too keen on this one

My brother is a huge fan of the Misfits! I like the song "The Shining" - based on my favorite movie (Poltergeist). :)

Wasn't there a band called Danzig? The MIsfits didn't really make a splash on the west coast.

Yes. Danzig is awesome. "Mother" and "Dirty Black Summer" are a couple favorites.
