One of the best book I ever found to interest a reluctant reader was a book by Dan Greenburg called "Tell a Lie and Your Butt Will Grow". It is one of a series of excellent books that children in middle school seem to love. It is typically geared towards second to fourth grade reading level but will still hold the interest of sixth to seventh grade lower level readers. The book is a funny story about a boy that is always telling lies to everyone. Al of the sudden every time he lies to someone his butt gets bigger. It is hysterically funny to read what happens right up to the very end of the book. I kept the whole series in my room for the 6th grades and let them sign them out. I got them started on the Zack Files series by reading this book aloud to them. before you know it, these books began to fly off the shelf. If you have a child they are the best books around to help teach them the love of reading.

@AbbyGreenhill, You are sure it is the lies that did that to them, how about "super sizes" food?

Maybe I need to start telling a lie or two, as my butt seems to be much smaller than it used to be! lol

Only lie if you absolutely want a bigger butt. Make sure you stop before it gets too big.

It is for Pinocchhop but in this case it's the butt. That is what makes it so funny to the kids.

So.... that is what happened to my butt! I told too many lies! Now, can you explain these hips to me? Sounds like a cute series. Nice spin on Pinocchio.

That's right. It tickles the funny bone of the kids to think of the butt growing.
