Not Way Down Upon the Swanee River - Back a time ago, when I was stationed in Occupied Germany, a friend and I went for a ride out in the German countryside. Mostly, World War II being over for several years already, the place looked and felt rather peaceful (as places go...) and the farms and villages all seemed very "rural" to us as we wandered along. Then, sort of all of a sudden, we came to a quiet river scene. Close by the river bank were two great big swans swimming around and around - like in a two-dancer square dance sort of thing. Not a feather out of place - and with not a single splash from one of their big webbed feet, either. They gave my little camera a nice moment that it had not had before. Unfortunately, I did not write down the location for this photograph, but this picture was from so long ago that the place would have changed by now, anyway. Image - Two Swans Dancing - Gus Kilthau

@JohnRoberts - Brother John - Right-on. As I recollect, that was the thing that impressed me most about those two big birds - graceful creatures, quiet, solemn, pretty in their poses. -Gus-
